Dave, I too am very interested in (especially public) transportation projects, as you might note from a thread not far below, but the history and potential future of TransForum is far too complicated for the domain registration to be given up, no matter how worthy the cause.

Basically TransForum is the name of the underlying forum software which for a moment in 1999 was as good as or better than anything else around, although never quite complete enough to properly launch version 1.0. A slightly later and still maintained version continues to be used by longstanding associates. Since then I have continued to work in fits and starts towards a version 2.0 which it is hoped will actually be usable for outcomes-focused discussions needing serious interaction with supporting data.

I'm also old enough to have accepted both (i) that good things take time and (ii) that getting your timing right is never guaranteed,

Good luck with your project. It sounds like something TransForum 2.0 would be well suited to.
